Mumbwa Town Council approved the 2026 Output-Based Annual Budget amounting to K168,479,879.35.
The approved budget is aimed at enhancing service delivery, infrastructure development, social protection, and economic growth across Mumbwa District.
Major Allocations Under the Approved Budget
🔹 Constituency Development Programme (CDF): K80.1 million
To support community infrastructure projects, establishment of solar plants, youth and women empowerment initiatives, provision of secondary boarding school and skills development bursaries, as well as administrative costs for effective monitoring and supervision.
🔹 Housing and Community Amenities: K14.6 million
For construction and rehabilitation of community centres, maintenance of public housing, markets and bus stations, roads and drainages, and upkeep of parks and gardens.
🔹 Management and Support Services: K15.9 million
To strengthen human resource management, accounting, legal services, audit, ICT, procurement, public relations, and overall administration of the Council.
🔹 Public Order and Safety: K7.4 million
For fire protection services, community policing, and enforcement of building regulations to enhance public safety.
🔹 District Health Services: K6.4 million
With emphasis on primary health services and effective coordination of health programmes in the district.
🔹 Transport Services: K6.8 million
To improve the road network and ensure smooth operation of transport services, including pontoon operations.
🔹 Social Protection and Community Development: K23.8 million
To support social welfare programmes such as Cash for Work, assistance to vulnerable persons, support to GBV survivors, and community development initiatives.
🔹 Other Allocations
Cover Integrated Development Planning, Local Governance, Economic and Business Development, Agriculture, Fisheries and Livestock, Education and Skills Development, Public Health and Environmental Protection, Recreation, Culture and Religion, and Resource Mobilisation.
The Council reaffirms its commitment to transparency, accountability, and prudent utilisation of public resources for the benefit of all residents of Mumbwa District.
