COUNCIL CHAIRPERSON CELEBRATES NEW YEAR BABIES IN MUMBWA DISTRICT

The Council Chairperson Mr . Charlie Masumo  celebrated the arrival of New Year babies in Mumbwa District following a visit to selected health facilities within the district on 1st January,2026.

During the visit, a total of seven (7) newborn babies were recorded. Five (5) babies comprising two (2) girls and three (3) boys were delivered at Mumbwa District Health Hospital.

Additionally, two (2) babies, one (1) girl and one (1) boy, were born at Mumbwa Urban Clinic, bringing joy to families and health staff as the New Year began.

Speaking during the visit, the Council Chairperson congratulated the mothers and encouraged them to take good care of their newborns, describing the babies as future leaders. He further urged the mothers to strictly adhere to health guidelines, including ensuring that the babies attend regular under-five health check ups.

Meanwhile, District Nursing Officer Ms. Mavis Masaka thanked the Council Chairperson on behalf of the Mumbwa District Director of Health Services for the kind gesture of presenting New Year hampers to the newborn babies and their mothers.

She also expressed gratitude to the Government for the construction of the maternity annex under the Mumbwa Constituency Development Fund (CDF), noting that once completed, the facility will significantly help reduce congestion in maternity wards.

Promoting maternal and child health remains a key priority for Mumbwa District.
