Vice president Mutale Nalumango yesterday visited Maimwene Resettlement Scheme to address the dry spell affected by the country with the inclusion of Mumbwa District.
She said the Government’s intention is to ensure that no one dies from hunger and that about 10 million people in the country have been affected by drought.
Mrs Nalumango also held a meeting with Chief Mumba where a number of issues were addressed including Government coming in to help those affected by the hunger and appealed to the Government to speed up the construction of Palaces for the Chiefs and include those that were left out.
The Vice President also visited the garden at Maimweene Primary School and encouraged more schools and the farmers to emulate the school by putting up small portions of gardens that could feed the homes for the whole year.
She also visited Mr.Patrick Simuchembos farm who was hit by the dry spell after planting Maize and Soya Beans siting that his farm was an example of many others that have been hit by drought.
