MUMBWA CONSTITUENCY RECEIVES GRANTS, LOANS AND SCHOOL DESKS FROM THE 2023 CONSTITUENCY DEVELOPMENT FUND

Members of the community received their cheques for the Empowerment Grants and Loans under 2023 Mumbwa Constituency Development Fund (CDF) .
Southern Province Minister,  Hon. Credo Nanjuwa, who is also Member of Parliament for Mumbwa Constituency, said K28.3 million has been allocated to the Constituency to finance projects and programmes identified by communities in line with their needs and aspirations.
Hon Nanjuwa emphasised on the need for more sensitization in the district for people to have access on CDF programs as soon as the Mumbwa Community Radio Station was open.
The Council Chairperson, Mr. Charlie Masumo said CDF has the potential to cushion the challenges which communities faced including lack of income at household level hence the realization by government to empower people through CDF.
Mrs. Gracious Nkeete, Chairperson for the Mumbwa Constituency Development Fund Committee in her speech highlighted that Eighty Six (86) beneficiaries benefited from the community grants amounting to K2, 151,805.80 and that a total number of twenty eight (28) beneficiaries from the business community had been given loans amounting to K3, 637,970.00 and all the beneficiaries from both groups had been trained by NATSAVE bank.
Mrs. Nkeete concluded by indicating that CDFC  had approved  procurement of 2,200 school desks  at a cost of  K3,080.000.00 for the schools under Mumbwa Constituency which was being Flagged off by the Minister.
The CDFC Chairperson said with further guidance from the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, the 2023 budget allocation, a total number of three thousand (3,000) desks had been included in the budget and will be distributed to all schools in the Constituency through guidance from Ministry of Education so that no pupil sits on the floor before the  end of the year  2023.
The District Commissioner Mrs. Namukulo Hayumbu assured the guest of honour that the district will strive hard to ensure that all government projects are of good standard and completed on time.
